In massive operations in Nigeria’s northern region, officers from the Force Intelligence Bureau Special Tactical Squad (FIB-STS) have detained 29 dangerous kidnappers and others.
The achievement came after IGP Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, issued orders to crack down on criminals and cut off their supply of weaponry.
The FIB-STS also recovered 61 firearms from the suspects in the course of the investigation, including 41 AK-rifles, 8 Type 06 rifles, 4 Light Assault Rifles (LAR), 4 pump action guns, 2 locally made firearms, 1 G3 rifle, 1 dane gun, 376 rounds of live ammunition of various calibres, and a cash sum of two million Naira, according to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa.
He revealed that a five-man trans-border syndicate operating between Adamawa State in Nigeria and Burha, Fituha, and Kesu in Cameroun had been apprehended.
The gang, which included Abubakar Mohammed, 28, Shehu Mohammed, 38, Abdullahi Ali, 30, Abubakar Ali, 18, and Hussaini Sule, 18, all from Mubi, Adamawa State, targeted wealthy persons who had beautiful mansions or automobiles, according to Adejobi.
“They admitted to the abduct and various assault of a recently married lady at Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno state whom they delivered upon receipt of 1,000,000 Naira emancipate. They were secured by agents of the FIB-STS in the wake of gathering a payment amount of 2 million Naira for one Alhaji Moni of Buladega Village on the eleventh of May, 2022.
“Agents of the FIB-STS similarly captured the team of Umar Muhammed matured 40 years of age from Mitchika in Adamawa State, and Musa Buba matured 29 years of age from Hong in Adamawa State, who are popular for their abducting exercises.
“They were captured at the market, upon solid knowledge that they would be there to purchase food things for their hijack casualties. They admitted to numerous deplorable wrongdoings including the killing and executing of one Alhaji Mai Gome, even after recover installment had been made,” he said.
The Inspector General of Police, Baba, while complimenting the FIB-STS agents for the victories recorded, guaranteed that all criminal components will be cleared out of their concealing spots and would pay all due respects to their wrongdoings at the appropriate time.
Adejobi said every one of the suspects would be summoned in court on fulfillment of examinations.
